  ChartTiff for MapTrails

     Instructions for Loading ChartTiff Data into MapTrails State Explorer
Systems with only one CD Drive

State Explorer requires access to map data at all times when that data is displayed.  In order to view both MapTrails BLM maps and ChartTiff GeoLites in Tandem View, the MapTrails BLM CD must be copied to the hard drive.

1.  Either from the Start Menu for your product or directly from the MapTrails BLM CD, run mapCopy.exe

2. Select your product under ‘CD data set location’. ;  
    This make take 30-45 seconds after the selection has been made.

3. A default location on your hard drive will be selected. You may change this if you choose.

4. Click Copy. The MapTrails CD will be copied to the disk.

After the copy is complete, the MapTrails software will install itself again to set the location information of the maps just loaded.  Select the same location, to load the program, as you did you first loaded the MapTrails software.

Systems with multiple CD drives

If your system has multiple CD drives, you may run one or more MapTrails or ChartTiff CDs simultaneously.  Simply place all desired CDs in their drives and refresh the map set. See loading instructions below.

Loading ChartTiff GeoLites into Tandem View

1.  Place desired ChartTiff CD(s) in the drive(s)

2.  Run State Explorer

3.  From the file menu, select Select Map Set

4.  Click Refresh to allow State Explorer to search for available map sets
     Note: Only map sets available on either hard drive or CD will be displayed.

5.  Select the desired map set for both the right and left views
     Note: It is possible that the same map set be selected for both views.

6.  Click OK
     Tandem View (dual side-by-side views) will opened and the desired map types will be loaded at the
     current position. If no map is available at the current location, the screen will appear as a white
     background.

7.  If one or both views do not display maps, right click on the desired area. 
    The correct map and CD will be displayed. Insert the correct CD and click Refresh in the dialog.

8.  The correct map will now be displayed and all Tandem View features will be available

Tandem View Features

View Reflection
 
All lines, trails, or waypoints displayed on one map side will be displayed on the reverse map side

Lock Button Toggle
   The lock button will sync the left map to the right side. 
   Moving either map will move the reverse map when locked. The button toggles on and off.

Tandem Toggle
   The tandem toggle will show/hide the left side map.
